Our Staff Steve Trippe, President and Executive Director Steve Trippe is a thirty-plus year veteran in youthwork, beginning his career as a direct service provider working in the Mission District of San Francisco. He is currently President and Executive Director of New Ways to Work, where he has worked for the past 23 years. New Ways is a nationally recognized technical assistance organization focused on supporting communities in building comprehensive local youth-serving systems, and improving practice in those organizations that serve young people. New Ways helps communities work together to prepare youth for success. Currently
Steve serves on California’s National Governors Association
“Home Team” on Foster Youth Transition and co-chairs
its employment sub-committee. He also serves on the
Executive Steering Committee of the Youth Policy Action
Center, and is a member of California’s Youth Vision
Team. He is a newly appointed Board Member of the National
Foster Care Coalition, a member of the National Mentoring
Partnership and the National Child Labor Council, and
past chair of the National Youth Employment Coalition.
He also served as the president of the Monte Rio Union
School District and is a former member of the National
School-to-Work Advisory Council. He has been involved
with the development of youth employment, youth development,
and education policy and implementation on the national,
state and local levels. His background includes serving
as Senior Consultant to the Industry Education Council
of California and extensive direct service experience
with the CYO of the Bay Area, the San Francisco Art Commission,
and as a music teacher in the public schools. Charlene
Mouille has over 15 years of experience in the Employment
and Charlene
co-managed the Employer and Labor, Work-Based Learning
project Previously,
Charlene was the Associate Director for a multi-service Brenda Barry has over 18 years' experience in workforce development and education reform, particularly with developing connections between education and business entities. Brenda runs a national consulting firm specializing in education reform, workforce preparation, and economic development. Previously, Brenda served as Executive Director of LEED-Sacramento (Linking Education & Economic Development), a nonprofit organization managing regional workforce preparation and development. Brenda has also served on the California School-to-Career Governor's Task Force, Educational Issues & Practices Committee; Far West States Skill Standards Consortium, Executive Committee; and the California Association of Leaders for Career Preparation Board. She was a member of the National Employer Leadership Council.Lisa Elliott, Project Coordinator Lisa Elliott is the Youth Transition Action Teams Initiative Project Coordinator at New Ways to Work. Lisa’s experience as a practitioner working with youth in the field over the past 13 years includes coordination and supervision of the Summer Youth Conservation Corps, development and implementation of youth-centered mentoring programs, employer engagement and job development for year-round youth employment programs, work-based learning coordination for a Financial Services Academy Program, and case management involving the development of individualized transition plans for youth with disabilities. These positions have required extensive facilitation of collaborative partnerships between teachers, school administration, parents, youth and the employer community. Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. Kellie Noe, Project Coordinator Kellie Noe is the Intermediary Network (INet) Project Coordinator at New Ways to Work. Kellie has worked in the youth development field since 2002 and before 2002 in adult support services. Prior to her work with New Ways to Work, she coordinated the Workforce Investment Act program at West County Community Services, the largest social services agency in western Sonoma County and she is the founder of the Voice of the Future program at the Climate Protection Campaign. Kellie was elected to the West Sonoma County Union High School District Board of Trustees in November of 2006 and is currently the Board President. She is also a fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy, a member of West County Community Services Board of Directors, and a former Service Learning Model Practitioner Regional Lead for Sonoma and Lake Counties. Kellie earned a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies titled, Civic Development for a Sustainable Society from the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University in 2005. Heidi Peyser, Project Coordinator Heidi Peyser is the Project Coordinator for the California Breakthrough Series Collaborative on Independent Living Program Transformation, sponsored by the California Co-Investment Partnership. Heidi is a former foster youth and has been working in the juvenile justice and mental health fields since 1997. In addition to her current position at New Ways to Work, she is also the Executive Director of the National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS) a 30-year longitudinal research project on lesbian-led families. Prior to her current position, she helped coordinate a restorative justice program for first and second time youth offenders, and was the Associate Director for a community based non-profit providing school-based counseling, therapeutic behavior services, and wraparound services to dual-diagnosis children, youth, and their families. Heidi has served as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Positive Images, a local youth-based support group. Linda England, Fiscal Manager
