Career development, training, and employment experiences are key to every young person’s development and preparation for a meaningful and productive life as an adult. It is especially critical for the 24,000 youth that leave foster care every year who must navigate multiple systems, often without the benefit of a permanent relationship with an adult, family, or community to support them on that journey. Through the Pathways to Employment initiative, New Ways is leveraging its work with Youth Transition Action Teams and other communities around the country, and applying the strategies, approaches, and lessons learned to a national audience. We are seeking out new partners and practitioners in the child welfare, career development, and workforce development arenas who are struggling to improve child welfare outcomes and prepare foster youth for a successful transition to adulthood.
